Asbestos Lawsuits
Asbestos lawsuits occur because exposure to asbestos can cause a relatively rare cancer called mesothelioma, for which there is no reliable cure. The link between asbestos and mesothelioma was discovered before 1960, and then officially validated in 1960. So it is considered that all employers that do work involving the chemical should take appropriate precautions, safety protection etc.
Although for most diseases litigation must happen within three years of the alleged cause this limit is waived for mesothelioma for which symptoms might not occur until decades after the exposure. The amount and length of exposure does not correlate well with the likelihood of contracting the disease, and even people exposed indirectly might still get mesothelioma.
Jobs which bring people into contact with asbestos include ship-building, boiler making and lagging, carpentry, joinery, electrical work, construction, working with automobile clutch and brake parts, and employees in schools and other buildings where it was used.
Blue asbestos is more likely to cause Mesothelioma than white asbestos due to the longer thinner fibers in blue asbestos. On the other hand, smaller particles of asbestos are likely to be more dangerous than larger ones due to the fact that smaller particles can remain suspended in the air for longer periods of time. Asbestos was recognized as a health risk in about 1900. People living near natural occurrences of asbestos have an increased risk of Mesothelioma. One study found incidence of Mesothelioma to be over 300 times as great in workers with asbestos insulation compared to the rate of incidence in the general population.
Lawsuits can claim for other factors as well as the disease itself, including relevant travel and material expenses as well as care whether pair for or not. The amounts of the claims awarded in the US can exceed tens of millions of dollars sometimes, which is one of the reasons that many specialist lawyers and attorneys are willing to take a mesothelioma case on a “no win no fee” basis, because they will take a percentage of the claim if the case is successful.
Asbestos lawsuits started around 1929, increased in 1960 when the link with mesothelioma was made official, and might increase as some sources say the incidence of mesothelioma in the western world might continue to increase until 2016.

Splendidly done is this blog indeed. I could not believe that you covered the whole wide ranging topics of this ramifying subject. Many sites do not even mention alternative medicine as an option for cancer. I am glad you thought to provide this wealth of information on the real alternatives.

Mesothelioma, yes a killing disease, caused by selfish people making money out of the suffering of others. The compensation is not high enough to counter the evil of the business world in this example.

We should be careful and perceptive in all the information we give on this subject. It is easy for people to misinterpret the symptoms of this killer disease, when they can so easily be symptomatic of something much less dangerous. You made this point well, thanks.
